Taylor
Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who managed to move between the genres of country and mainstream culture, and has become an idol of the world of pop. The singer also swept all over the world in the process. Swift left her country roots like they were a second skin, revealing she was possibly the most savvy popular singer/songwriter in her generation one who could harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal and just as impressively perform in the opposite direction. The evidence was clear from her first songs, especially on the neo pay homage towards Tim McGraw. On her album Fearless (2008) Swift showed a songwriter getting to understand herself. The album was hugely successful not only in the United States, where six of its singles have been certified platinum in the wake of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But it also performed well around the globe. Swift was able to consolidate her progress through Speak Now almost two year following. Swift's popularity grew through the three albums that followed - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within the genre she was a part of. The popularity of her music grew after she reformulated her approach by releasing 2020's streamlined Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed at the top of the charts.
