Lowell broke into acting with the movie Dangerously Close followed by a small role in the Robin Williams movie Club Paradise. The actress continued to play the part of Bond girl Pam Bouvier (1989), and also the Assistant District Attorney Jamie Ross (1996-1996). She appeared on Law and Order's spinoff Law & Order Trial by Jury and was back on the original series in 2022.  O'Grady starred in many TV films produced by Lifetime and others, including The Three Lives of Karen (1997), Two Voices (1997) The Ninety-Nineth Seconds(1997), Two of Hearts (1997) and Two of Hearts (1997). Her big screen credits include Celtic Pride (1996), That Old Feeling (1997), Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999) and Walking Across Egypt (1999).From 2002 to 2005, O'Grady starred as Helen Pryor in the NBC television series American Dreams that depicted an all-American family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the 1960s. After three seasons, she was fired from the series. O'Grady was the main character on ABC's comedy show Hot Properties in Fall 2005. The show was cancelled after 13 episodes. In 2006, she was guest-starring on Two and a Half Men. The actress played a recurring role on Boston Legal as Gloria Weldon in 2007. Gloria Weldon is a judge who is involved in a relationship with Alan Shore. Also, she appeared on the show All I Want for Christmas on Hallmark

Her fame was based on her role as Carmen Lopez on the globally syndicated ABC sitcom George Lopez, a role which won her two consecutive Young Artist Awards for Leading Young Actress in the comedy or Drama. After transitioning into film, she played the lead role in Sony Pictures' Blood: The Last Vampire. Lusha also appeared with Ian Ziering and David Hasselhoff in SyFy's Sharknado: The 4th Wakes.
