Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She is the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news site has a TV personality, author, and charitable donor. Originating from Greece she relocated to England when she was 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. In her 21st year, she was head of the famous debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. After after her college graduation, she became a prominent conservative syndicated journalist. In the years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political scene. In part, her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna's fame started in 2003, after she became an independent candidate in the California recall vote in order to replace Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of the Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Forbes named her the most powerful woman in media in the year 2009. She ranked at 12th place on their list. The Guardian added her to the list of 100 most influential media outlets in the year 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was made the president of this group. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties of the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos the journalist and management consultant. Although she had a close relationship with both of her parents, it was their bond which shaped her. At an early age, she showed leadership abilities which are still widely admired. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. As a student and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the colleges debating societies, where she eventually became its first female and foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic, and as a host on television. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
