Reese Witherspoon
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born on 22nd March 1976 is an American actress. A recipient of various awards like an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, the Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she is regularly ranked as one of the highest-paid actors in the world. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in the years 2006 and 2015 and Forbes included her in the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in the years 2019 and 2021. Forbes declared her the world's wealthiest actress in 2021. Witherspoon is estimated to have a net worth $400 million. Witherspoon made her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she was a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions and played the role of Tracy Flick in Election. Her fame grew with portraying Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel in 2003 and for her part in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002). She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a slump in her career with her only box-office hit was the romantic comedy Water for Elephants (2011), Witherspoon made a comeback by producing and starring as Cheryl Strayed in the drama Wild (2014) and earned her a second nomination for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Since then, she has been working primarily in television, producing and starring in several women-led literary adaptations produced by her company Hello Sunshine. These include Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show, the Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the first episode of the series. She also produced the films Gone Girl (2014), and Where the Crawdads Sing (222). She serves on the board of the Children's Defense Fund and was honoured to be the chairperson of the Avon Foundation's foundation's charitable cause for women in 2007.
